ABOUT THE PROJECT

In March of 2020, Canada like many other countries went into our first lockdown of the Covid-19 Pandemic. This was an incredibly confusing time as no one quite understood what was happening and how to continue forward. Eventually business' figured out how to run while employees worked from home, post secondary institutions started teaching over Zoom, and the province of Ontario moved into its 'Covid normal'.

Unlike other industries, the performing arts wasn't able to adapt as quickly. How do you take a piece that is performed with an ensemble of 20 people, performed in-front of 100s, into the online realm? How do you perform together when we are supposed to be apart?

Each episode of Dark Year touches on a different section of the performing arts. We uncover the story of how the industry has changed through the pandemic and social movements from multiple perspectives. So we invite you to sit back, and enjoy exploring how the industry is moving forward.
